Manufacturing

From formula to finished-goods lot, with the cost of every batch.

Pixxoft Stock was built around a cosmetics manufacturer. It handles fill sizes, containers, per-unit packaging and leftover bulk, and shows what each batch really cost per finished unit.

Manufacturing features are part of the Manufacturing Inventory package, or a custom package with Formulas and Production enabled.

The batch workflow

Six steps, each one recorded.

  1. 01

    Write the formula

A per-unit recipe for the product, with packaging per unit, and a live cost estimate.

  2. 02

    Plan the batch

Choose the product and the finished units to make. Quantities are calculated from the formula.

  3. 03

    Check availability

Open lots are checked line by line, before and after you draft the batch.

  4. 04

    Substitute or note

Replace a short ingredient, or proceed with the shortfall and a recorded reason.

  5. 05

    Complete the batch

Enter produced and rejected units. Materials are consumed from lots, oldest first.

  6. 06

    Read the cost

Good units become a finished-goods lot with a cost per unit, and the breakdown stays on the batch.

Versioned formulas

A recipe used in production can never be silently changed.

Each product has per-unit formulas in versions. The first batch to use a version locks it; any change becomes a new version that you activate deliberately.

  • Packaging is listed per unit, so counts are calculated for you
  • Bulk-to-unit filling for liquids and creams: plan in finished units
  • A live cost estimate from current average material prices

Availability and substitution

Find out about a shortage before the batch, not during it.

The availability check reads live lots. When an ingredient is short you can substitute another, or go ahead and record why.

  • Line-by-line availability against open, unexpired lots
  • Substitutions and mandatory shortage notes kept as an audit trail on the batch

Completing a batch

Rejects and leftover bulk are recorded, not hidden.

When you complete a batch the system consumes materials from specific lots, records rejected units and leftover bulk as wastage, creates the finished-goods lot and writes the batch cost.

  • Packaging and batch overhead lines are added to the cost
  • The cost of leftover bulk is removed from the units
  • Cost per good unit is the units cost divided by good units, so rejected units are absorbed rather than ignored
  • A batch can be cancelled with a full reversal while nothing has been sold from it

Estimate versus actual

Two cost views, each answering a different question.

The estimated cost on a product is live: it moves as material prices move. A completed batch fixes what that batch actually cost.

  • Estimated cost: current average prices for ingredients and packaging, with margin at today's selling price
  • Completed-batch cost: materials actually consumed, plus batch overheads, less leftover bulk
  • Costs recorded against a batch after completion update the batch's breakdown; the finished-goods lot keeps its completion-time cost

Production visibility

Production sits beside stock, sales and alerts, so planners see what was made, what is short and what is about to expire in one place.

Boundaries

What manufacturing does not cover today.

So you can judge fit early. If one of these matters to you, tell us in the demo request and we will say what would be involved.

  • Multi-level bills of materials or sub-assemblies
  • Work-in-progress tracking
  • Production scheduling or capacity planning
  • Quality-control approvals, quarantine, certificates of analysis or batch manufacturing record documents

Bring one product and one formula to the demo.

We will walk through the batch workflow using a product like yours.
